My goal for my animal paintings is to capture a specific moment in time to create intimate portraits, which are neither objectified nor sentimentalized, but that do acknowledge the vulnerability that exists within both the observed and the observer. I want my paintings to challenge the viewer to stop, sit in the specific moment I have created and just be; to look at the world through an animal’s eyes and ask themselves what it is they see when they observe us.
